Consultancy and Training
Are you doing everything you can to meet the needs of people with disabilities?
Every person with a disability has a right to be listened to, a right to be heard and a right to make decisions.
Under the Equality Act all organisations have a duty to make their services accessible to everyone.
NHS England has announced the introduction of an Accessible Information Standard – by July 2016 all organisations that provide NHS or publicly funded adult social care must have fully implemented this standard.
Whether you are a local authority, private company, charity or service provider you have a duty to ensure that even the most hard-to-reach people with disabilities have equal access to what you offer, and that their needs are met.
That’s not easy. Those with particularly complex disabilities, profound learning disabilities and mental health problems may find it hard to communicate. They are too easy to overlook.
VoiceAbility’s consultancy and training can support you to engage with and include a range of people, including:
- Those who have a physical or learning disability, brain injury, a mental health illness, or are on the autistic spectrum condition
- Those who have issues with substance misuse
- Children in Care
We can help you make your services more inclusive.
How to reach out effectively
VoiceAbility is a leading provider of advocacy services. That means we help people, including those with the most complex problems, to speak up about the issues that concern them.
We support a range of organisations - charities, local authorities, service providers and private companies - to meet their obligations to people with disabilities.
We do this by delivering effective consultancy and training and by designing bespoke projects. We listen to your needs and what you want to achieve. We then find solutions that will help you reach your goals.
What we do
The range of projects we work on is as wide as the types of organisations we work with.
The expertise we have offered to organisations in recent years includes:
|Quality Checking||Giving you the tools to help support someone to carry out a quality check|
|Engage with us||Teaching interactive techniques for engaging with people who use your services, during consultation processes|
|Accessible Communication||Investigating the ways that you can communicate effectively with people with communication difficulties|
|Disability Awareness||Supporting your organisation to become more disability aware, how to reduce the barriers for those who use your services|
|Inclusive Employers||Looking at your legal responsibilities as an employer within the Disability Act|
The real question is not what we do... it is how we can use our years of experience to help you with your particular need.
What our customers say about us
“As part of London Youth’s commitment to Inclusion, we engaged VoiceAbility to deliver 3 workshops for staff between Nov 2014 and Jan 2015. The workshops were delivered across our sites in London, Buckinghamshire and Sussex. The workshops were well received and enabled staff of diverse experience to learn and/or update their subject knowledge. Working with Voiceability has helped us on our Inclusion Journey and we look forward to building on this in 2015.”John Jones, Sport Development Officer, London Youth
