Travel Training in Bedfordshire

VoiceAbility is working in partnership with Bedford Borough Council and delivering a new travel training programme, initially training individuals with disabilities and additional needs to travel independently to Bedford College. The project aims to:

• Support young people with learning disabilities and additional needs to travel independently by bus when they have only previously used taxis or supported transport.
• Work closely with young people and their parents or carers to highlight the benefits of independent travel to wellbeing, independence and future prospects.
• Work with the young person at a pace that suits them, through a comprehensive and structured programme leading to independent travel.
