Secure Setting Mental Health Advocacy

mental health advocacy

VoiceAbility employs advocates to work with adults of working age with Mental Health problems in a hospital setting in Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster.

Our Advocates aim to understand and represent your views as an individual or support you to speak up and represent yourself.

We can support you to:

  • Get information about your rights
  • Find out what choices are open to you
  • Look at the possible outcomes of those choices

We can also

  • Draft letters for you
  • Go to meetings with you, at ward rounds, care programme approach (CPA) meetings or mental health assessments
  • Ask questions at meetings on your behalf
  • Support you to ensure all the points you wanted to raise have been covered clearly

We will always try to help support you with your queries and concerns, however sometimes we might need to refer you to another organisation or service. We keep details of services in your area so we will be able to give you the right information quickly and easily.

“You are the only ones who have supported me in four weeks of being in hospital.”

“They’ve never listened to me before and their attitude changed completely because you were there. I’d never have got my job back if it wasn’t for you.”

We provide a hospital based advocacy service for people with a mental health illness in Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham. You can contact us on the below details:
