Suffolk

VoiceAbility Suffolk offers a range of advocacy and self advocacy services for people across the county.

Who do we work with?

  • People who lack capacity
  • People who have a mental health illness
  • Young People

What do we offer?

VoiceAbility Suffolk started work in 1992 under the name of ESAN (East Suffolk Advocacy Network) and has run as a user led organisation since then, offering quality independent mental health advocacy (IMHA) and community advocacy across the whole of Suffolk.

We also provide Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy to individuals who lack capacity and for whom a decision is being made about serious medical treatment or long term accommodation.

In 2009, VoiceAbility started work in Suffolk, offering formal advocacy to children and young people with additional needs aged 5 to 19 and young people going through transition aged 19 to 25.

We work with young people to raise their collective voice about issues in Suffolk, through our Youth Parliament.

We also provide independent training to other advocates in Suffolk to ensure that every person in Suffolk who needs advocacy receives the highest quality of service.

And our three services that we offer to children and young people are collectively known as ‘Young Voices’.

Suffolk Young Voices is currently looking for volunteer advocates to give support to young people in the area. These roles are vital to the young people and are truly rewarding to the volunteers. You can go to our jobs page to find out more about these posts.
