Young Voices is a service provided by VoiceAbility. We offer formal advocacy for children and young people with additional needs aged 5 to 19 and young people going through transition aged 19 to 25.
Our formal advocacy service is delivered by a team of experienced, independent, advocates. Young Voices provides one-to-one formal advocacy and non-instructed advocacy which will empower children and young people to have a stronger voice, to express their needs and make decisions by having choice and control over their lives.
We will do this by providing One2One formal advocacy working under the instruction of our clients (the child or young person), or using non-instructed advocacy for children and young people lacking capacity. We also have a team of Citizen Advocates providing informal advocacy support to Children and Young People in Suffolk.
We can work with children and young people who are identified as having additional needs, such as a learning difficulty, physical impairment, mental health issue or sensory impairment.
Anyone can refer to our service. You can be a child or young person contacting us yourself; a parent/carer; or, a professional such as a social worker, youth worker or teacher.
