Director of Human Resources position

VoiceAbility are looking for a Director of Human Resources that inspires and enables the people around them to be their best

We're looking for someone who will bring a deep understanding of how our ability to deliver on our social mission can be driven by our people strategies. We want to find a leader who has absolute empathy with what we do and why and who has a leadership and management style which inspires and enables people to be their best.

This is an exciting time for the successful applicant to join us, as we strengthen the organisation to continue to respond to the requirements of people with whom we work alongside. The post-holder will be an integral member of the executive management team and play a key role in shaping the future of the charity and the positive impact we have on people’s lives.

VoiceAbility supports disabled people and people who face disadvantage or discrimination to have a voice that counts. We lead work to ensure that people are supported to have control over their lives and we have pioneered ways of enabling people to be heard and have their rights respected. We put the people we work with at the heart of our organisation and have developed excellent services. As a result, we have become one of the largest providers of advocacy and user participation services in the UK.

Our strategy is aimed at ensuring we continue to improve what we do, achieve greater social impact, and operate more effectively and efficiently. As we continue to operate in a challenging and competitive environment our focus is on driving sustainability, together with diversifying our services in order to meet our social mission more fully.

To meet some of these challenges we’re now looking for a progressive, customer-focused and commercially orientated HR professional and leader. You will champion the design and delivery of best practice HR and L&D interventions and continue to shape our HR function, so it is fully aligned to delivering on our organisational needs, and those of the people who use and work in our services.  

This is an important role and one that will contribute to ongoing organisational development and both engage and enable our people, drive high performance and our focus on service excellence.

I’m personally looking for someone who will bring a deep understanding of how our ability to deliver on our social mission can be driven by our people strategies. I want to find a leader who has absolute empathy with what we do and why and who has a leadership and management style which inspires and enables people to be their best. We’re an ambitious organisation, so this post needs to be filled by someone who isn’t fazed by multiple demands, but instead see these as an opportunity to identify where the greatest difference can be made and then to lead that change.
