VoiceAbility is passionate about strengthening voice, championing rights and changing lives. If people are unable to access information they can face discrimination and exclusion from opportunities, services, and their rights as citizens.

VoiceAbility challenges this by providing services to make information accessible.

Easy Read Translation

Easy Read translation makes documents easier to understand for people with learning disabilities.

Easy Read is very important. Lots of organisations use Easy Read to be more accessible.

VoiceAbility provides an Easy Read translation service to Department of Health standard. This means you can be sure the translation is high quality.

Our Easy Read translation team includes people with learning disabilities. We check the document, and make changes. We make sure the document is easy to read and understand.

The translation will be in plain English, with large words and pictures. This helps to make information clear. We can use different colours if this helps.

Our customers include:
• Department for Culture, Media and Sport
• Nothamptonshire County Council
• Richmond Borough Council
and many other organisations both large and small.

Please contact us for prices. We are part of VoiceAbility, and do not make a profit. Our prices are very competitive.

Our prices depend on the size of the document. The price is also higher if there are lots of hard words. If a document is hard to understand then translation takes longer.

 We can provide a recording of an Easy Read document. This makes it accessible for people with sight problems. It also makes it accessible for people who find reading difficult.

We can make a film. Some people find this easier to understand than a recording. We can show information in different ways with a film. It looks great on a website.

We can put together a photostory.

This is an exciting way to make information easy to understand. We make our own drawings or photos for your photostory.

We can also make accessible documents from a new idea. An example is the Parents Booklet. Someone gave us their new idea and we made it into a book for them.

We will work closely with you and listen to what you want. You will be really pleased with our work.

Glossary:

Photostory

A photostory is similar to a cartoon or comic book. It is using a story to give information.

Competitive

Competitive means that our prices are better than other Easy Read translators

Accessible

Accessible mean that someone can use information. If a leaflet is made into Easy Read it is more accessible for people with learning disabilities.
