NCS (National Citizen Service)

catch 22 logoVoiceAbility are part of the Catch22 Partnership delivering the National Citizen Service (NCS) . NCS provides young people in Year 11 from all backgrounds, and with varying abilities, with the opportunity and support to take on new challenges, learn new skills and make a difference.

This year the Catch22 NCS Partnership is providing places for over 2,600 young people to take part this summer in the 2nd year of the Government's national pilot.

So what’s NCS all about?

Phase 1: Introducing NCS

Young people will come along and meet the group, start thinking about what they want to do in their area and what they can achieve over the summer.

Phase 2: Residential

Young people will have a week away from home with a mix of physical, mental, creative and skills-based activities – everyone will have the opportunity to try something new and to shine!

Phase 3: Community visit and skills week

Young people will learn project management skills, share ideas with the local experts and make plans for real change in their community

Phase 4: Social action planning week

Young people will take part in presentation and communications skills workshops and join up with other NCS Teams in their area to discuss social action plans. They will develop a detailed plan for social action in each area.

Phase 5: take action!

The finale of all their hard work; this is when they get a chance to make a real change in their community to the issues that matter to them

And finally…

Whether they cleaned up the local park, created a music festival or helped out at the local hospital, they’ll finish their NCS summer with a graduation ceremony and receive a nationally recognised certificate for all their hard work.
