Jonathan Senker, Chief Executive
Jonathan is responsible for leadership of the organisation and is its public face. He delivers the organisation's strategy, which is approved by the board. Prior to this Jonathan was CEO of Advocacy Partners (1998-2010) developing it from a local charity with few staff to a leading organisation working across London and the South-East.
He was Chair of the NICE Guideline Committee for the service model for people with learning disability and challenging behaviour. Jonathan has written and spoken widely on rights, voice and social care.
Sam Breckell, Director of Operations and People
Sam joined VoiceAbility as Director of HR in June 2017. His previous post was Vice Principal at Oldham College, where he provided HR and Organisational Development leadership for a complex multi-site workforce. He brings a strong commercial understanding from his senior roles in Tesco and a very clear commitment to our aims, together with the drive to help us to achieve what we're here to do.
Sam's previous role of Director of HR was recently merged with the role of Director of Operations. His remit now covers leadership of Operations, HR and Organisational Development. This means he's responsible for:
- Leading and supporting our operational teams.
- Improving our services so that they empower as many people as possible.
- Building strong leadership within the organisation.
- Making sure VoiceAbility is a rewarding place to work and grow.
"I see this role as an exciting opportunity to embed the “Valuing Our People” part of our strategy and to help us improve how we work together. I want to ensure that this leads to more impactful outcomes for people using our services, by supporting our Regional Operational Managers to shape the future of our organisation."
Lauren Macleod, Director of Business Development
Lauren joined VoiceAbility in September 2017. She is based in Cambridge but visits local offices as much as possible, so that she can really understand how the organisation supports people, and how she can lead on driving new service developments and directions alongside Jonathan and the rest of the Executive Management Team.
She has ten years’ experience in Health and Social Care, starting in the NHS and moving to the voluntary sector in 2012. She subsequently worked in operations and business development for a number of disability charities, most recently as the Senior Development Manager for Papworth Trust.
"My time in the sector has given me a huge amount of respect for advocates, and a passion for the vital work which they do to support people to find their voice, to be heard and to have real choice and control over the lives they lead. At a time when people are having to fight ever harder for their basic human rights, supporting people to speak out only becomes more important."
Richard Jones, Director of Finance and Corporate Services
Richard joined VoiceAbility in January 2017. He has a wealth of experience gained across a number of sectors including charity, and was most recently the Commercial Operations Director of an animal conservation charity.
As our Director of Finance and Corporate Services his role includes:
• Keeping the organisation compliant with financial, company, charity and data protection laws and regulations.
• Delivering an ever-increasing awareness and understanding of the performance of VoiceAbility at all levels across the organisation.
• Making sure the organisation has the financial and systems resources required to deliver its mission, now and into the future.
"I am passionate to see everyone valued and empowered as individuals; enabled to live life to the full. I'm therefore proud to work with an organisation that works with and helps disadvantaged people to overcome obstacles and constraints, and to take control over their lives.''
