Supporting Speak Out leaders and volunteers to get involved in groups, working on issues that affect people with learning disabilities and autistic people.

What does a Speak Out Hampshire peer volunteer do?

As a Speak Out Hampshire peer volunteer, you might:

  • promote VoiceAbility in the community, telling people what we do
  • support at local Speak Out meetings 
  • one-to-one support for people to prepare for meetings
  • assist with travel
  • community events
  • co-production of events with other parts of the community

Where can I volunteer?

This role is available in:

  • Romsey
  • Farnborough

What skills will I need?

We are looking for people who have any of these skills:

  • good communication skills 
  • empathy and patience 
  • an interest in Advocacy
  • ability to work independently
  • a commitment to the values of VoiceAbility

What support can I expect from VoiceAbility?

  • support from a Speak Out Facilitator
  • volunteer induction training along with specific training for the role you choose - there are further training opportunities available 
  • the opportunity to make positive change with people we support 
  • a chance to meet new people and learn new skills 
  • regular catch ups and support from the speak out facilitator 
  • the equipment needed to support your role 
  • reimbursement of expenses and travel costs in line with VoiceAbility’s policy 
  • a reference after completing six months of volunteering
