How are staff supported to work remotely?
VoiceAbility doesn’t have regional offices, except in a small number of cases. Everyone works from home, with travel as required. When you need to travel for work, expenses will be paid (mileage or public transport costs).
All equipment required for your job will be supplied to you, including a mobile phone and laptop, and any other equipment needed for your role. VoiceAbility uses Microsoft Teams for meetings
The Lone Alert system is used by all staff to ensure people can work safely – at home, in hospitals and care settings, and in other people’s homes.
What other support is available?
Learning and development
All employees have access to the Learning Hub, with a mix of instructor-led and online courses.
This includes professional development courses for advocates, led by High-Level Practitioners; awareness workshops on disability and LGBTQ+ people; and management training to develop current and potential managers to improve their skills.
Employee Representative Groups
We all bring different experiences and challenges to work. At VoiceAbility, our staff networks allow people across all our teams to share experiences, get support, and feed back on positive change people would like to see in VoiceAbility.

Communities of Practice
Anyone working as a specialist advocate can be part of a Community of Practice: an online forum which fosters sharing of good practice and supportive communication with colleagues.
These communities allow people from across the organisation to ask questions, seek support with challenging situations, and draw on the experience of others outside their own regional teams.
