Postion: Peer Advisor

Hours: 22 per week

Duration: Permanent

Location: Office based Bury St Edmunds Suffolk

Salary: £18562 - £22500 per annum pro rata

About the role:

You will be employed by Voiceability but will be working as part of the Suffolk Wellbeing Service.

The role of Peer Advisor will involve supporting individuals by sharing their own experiences of mental health recovery and services guiding them to the information, advice and assistance available, as well as encouraging practical steps to promote emotional wellbeing.

The post holder will assist the Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners in the delivery of group interventions, alongside providing 1:1 peer support in the community, enabling people accessing the service to get the most out of the interventions and to develop a personalised wellbeing plan.

The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of Mental Health issues, lived experience of engaging with services and recovery as well as the ability to work in enabling and creative ways. You will need to be an organised individual who plays an active part within the team, contributing positively and in a solution-focused manner.

The ability to travel across the county, including rural locations is essential. The successful applicant will be subject to an Enhanced DBS, which will be carried out as part of the pre-employment process


You will have:

- Ability to advise and empower people who use Mental Health services in their own recovery

- Ability to facilitate group workshops encouraging vulnerable groups to access available services

- Ability to use telephone, email and other IT systems to provide telephone support to individuals and wider community members

- Ability to understand and implement key policies and guidance such as keeping information confidential and raising safeguarding concerns keeping yourself and service users safe

- Ability to travel across Suffolk
