Jonathan Senker to step down as CEO of VoiceAbility

19 June 2024

After establishing VoiceAbility and leading it for 14 years, Jonathan Senker has decided to step down as its Chief Executive in September.

Jonathan said:

It’s been my absolute privilege to have established and led VoiceAbility. I am immensely proud of what people who draw on our services and my colleagues have been able to achieve.

As a result of their efforts, hundreds of thousands of people’s voices have been heard, people have had their rights respected and have been able to lead fuller lives. We’ve also impacted national legislation, policy, guidance – and most importantly the ways that these affect people’s lives.

I now want to take some time to explore different ways in which I can play my part progressing social justice and to enabling people to live more fulfilled lives of their choosing.

I approach the time when I will be leaving VoiceAbility with total confidence that, through the on-going work of my brilliant colleagues, the organisation will achieve even more into the future.”

Ali Reid, Chair of the Board of Trustees of VoiceAbility, said:

Jonathan’s contribution to raising both awareness and creating support for people to have their voice listened to, and heard, is remarkable.

I have only had the privilege of working with Jonathan for a short time, within which his commitment and care has been evident. Through his passion for social justice and fairness, driven through his close connection to those accessing our services – he has retained a deep empathy and desire to see more done.

It is in that vein we wish Jonathan well as he seeks to explore the next chapter in his life and career.

I wish Jonathan well in his endeavours and know he has taken time to ensure that the charity will be in good hands and able to fulfil the ambitions to enable everyone to have a voice, to be heard and responded to.”

As a Board we will be working to ensure a safe transition and that we can sustain the achievements gained for those using our services.”

Richard Jones will be working with Jonathan as CEO designate over the next 3 months to ensure a robust handover and will become our CEO from Monday 2 September.
