Social Care: Sign the open letter today

A new survey of nearly 4,000 older people and disabled people and those who are unpaid carers has highlighted that our failing social care system is leaving many people unsafe, unfed and unwell. We are writing to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Jeremy Hunt, to tell him that enough is enough.

“I feel 100% let down and not heard”.

Statements like this were heard time and time again when conducting a major new survey of almost 4,000 people by the Care and Support Alliance, a partnership of 80 leading organisations including VoiceAbility.

The survey of older people, disabled people and those who are unpaid carers has highlighted that our failing social care system is leaving many people unsafe, unfed and unwell. The report explains:

  • 1 in 5 respondents have felt unsafe in their own home, and over a third can’t leave the house
  • 1 in 5 respondents said they’ve gone without meals due to a lack of care and support.

1 in 5 have gone without meals because they didn't get the support they need

We are writing to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Jeremy Hunt, to tell him that enough is enough. Will you help us show him how important this is by adding your name to our letter? It will only take a minute, and the more signatures we gather, the harder it will be for the Government to ignore.
