Black Lives Matter
We recognise that we need to change and are committed to doing so. Over the next 4 weeks, we will review our organisational plans to make sure that they put us on the path towards countering racism in all that we do. We recognise that this is not a matter of quick fixes, but a journey which must be taken with commitment and priority.
The brutal killing of George Floyd, and the fact that proportionally more people of colour than white people have died from Covid-19, highlight the continued, abhorrent and devastating impact of systemic and systematic racism.
VoiceAbility exists to make sure that people are heard when it matters most. I therefore recognise that we will be judged by our actions and not our words.
I know that we need to change throughout, from the delivery of our services to how people attain positions of seniority. Over the next 4 weeks, we will review our organisational plans to make sure that they will put us on the path towards countering racism in all that we do.
We recognise that this is not a matter of quick fixes, but a journey which must be taken with commitment and priority.
As a part of this, we will listen to and be informed by our members of staff, volunteers and clients, especially those from BAME communities. I encourage people to contact me to discuss any aspect of this.
