Chair of Trustees Anthony Osijo said: “We are pleased to announce the appointment of Kathryn Llewellyn as Chief Executive Officer of VoiceAbility.
“Kathryn brings over two decades of senior leadership experience, with a strong track record in organisational transformation, safeguarding, and advancing the rights of people who are often among the most marginalised in society.
“She has led complex organisations at scale, delivering significant growth in impact while strengthening governance, culture and systems.
Her leadership is grounded in a clear commitment to rights-based practice and ensuring that people are heard, respected, and able to exercise their rights
“She brings the strategic clarity and values-driven approach needed to lead VoiceAbility into its next phase.”
Kathryn takes on the role at an important time for health and social care, with growing demand for advocacy services and renewed debate around rights and safeguards following the Supreme Court decision in June to overturn the Cheshire West judgment.
“I am deeply honoured to be joining VoiceAbility and to be working alongside an organisation with such a proud history of championing rights, dignity and voice
“Throughout my career, one belief has remained constant: every person has the right to be heard, respected and able to influence the decisions that affect their lives.
“Advocacy exists because too many people still face barriers to exercising those rights. It helps rebalance power where power has become unequal and creates space for people to speak for themselves.
“The world we’re living in means this work is more important than ever.
Advocacy protects dignity, strengthens rights and ensures people are not excluded from decisions that shape their futures.
Kathryn said she is looking forward to listening and learning from the people who use VoiceAbility’s services, alongside staff, volunteers, partners and commissioners.
“I believe VoiceAbility has an extraordinary opportunity to strengthen rights, participation and social change,” she said.
Advocacy is not about speaking for people. It is about ensuring nobody has the power to silence them.
